    Default Water culture

I'm thinking about putting a couple of n.b.s. phrags I got recently in Venger's style water culture.

Anybody done this before? Any thoughts/warnings/insults?

    (FYI: <a href=http://vengers.com/culture/water.htm>link to Venger's article on water culture</a>)

I placed two phrags (Carol Kanzer and Don Wimber) in water culture over 2 months ago. The roots are growing like crazy on both plants and new growths have emerged. I change the water once a week and add a tad of fertilizer each time. Other than that, I grow them normally along with my other phrags. Good luck!

What do you do to keep them at the right level relative to the water? Do you suspend the plant in some way? Did you experience much root loss at the beginning?

Sue, I use a small vase with a narrow neck which works pretty well. (The vase was originally designed for a hyacinth bulb.) I was prepared to see lots of root loss when I made the transfer, but was surprised to see how easily and quickly the plant adapted. I'll take a picture later today to show you how it looks, ok?
