Cheers,
Last Saturday there was a power outage in our area, and we got bored so
we decided to take a long drive to our favorite garden shop to replenish our
garden stocks (pots, medias etc.) and also we saw this beautiful vanda
masao that we bought eventually and a brassia that unfortunately is already
reserved for someone.
And just this morning we went to our local electric coop to pay our bill and
i peeked at the orchid farm next to it to see what they've got new and i
saw this huge cattleya its a noid but the color of the flowers are
somewhat pinkish purple, i got the one without blooms but with 3 sheaths.
Here's the pic, enjoy.

Wonderful selection, Randy! Bravo!!
Cheers,

Hey Randy,
I see you couldn't resist getting a Vanda Rev. masao yourself eh? after seeing the photos of my Masao's growing outside my window grill?
I've got three new hybrid Paphiopedilums from Taiwan that I bought from a collector/vendor who has a stall at the tiangge that is coming into bloom. I saw the samples he had dispayed there last Saturday and they are really wonderful. The plants that were selling are all clones so I expect the flowers to be exactly the same as the ones which were shown on display. I'll post the photos here once the buds are fully opened.
Hmmmm .... are you sure the vanda you photographed above is a Masao? It could be a hybrid of Masao because the colors do not appear so dark and the shape looks different???
The photo I showed here in the forums and I recommended to you before is the pure V. Rev. Masao Yamada AM/AOS.
I like the growth of your Cattletya - looks very robust!
Cheers!
thanks cant wait to see the catt bloom too. so far nothing is inside the sheath yet.
jojo
the masao i've got is not exactly the one you've showed me before, maybe what i got
is a hybrid of something. i can't seem to locate the stall that you said are selling mother
plants of masao, this we got from mega orchids. im still on the hunt for that same
masao that you've recommended. also i'd like to know the stall of that paph vendor
you've mentioned, as i am slowly building up my slipper collection. hopefully they're not
too expensive. we might go to the sunday tiange at the lung center on jul19, as there
is also a flora/fauna expo that we wanted to check out at the world trade.
thanks
Randy, congratulations! You got two beautiful additions! Can't wait to see the catt blooms!!!
Esh! How can you find such fabulous stuff just on a drive . . . . Okay, I'm just a bit jealous. Congrats!
They are selling a Masao at the stall in the tiangge (flea-market) stall that I first showed to you before - do you remember that?
The store that I mentioned to you which might be cheaper and is a mother/specimen plant is at the MSBF along EDSA.
The vendor selling the newly-arrived Paph plants from Taiwan (including other species) is located at the tiangge also. It is on the same line of stalls where I first pointed out the Masao to you weeks before but their stall comes ahead in line (I think it is the 4th stall???).
I will be there most likely on jul19 and as usual, early in the morning (approximately same time when we first met), I can show you where that stall is.
Geesh! With you around I'll get embarassed to let you see what plants I buy 'coz then you'll get to see how much I am get to spend on plants! LOL! (just joking!)
As for your Catt - it looks very plump and healthy! It does appear to be a very good specimen (mother) plant. Don't divide it yet and give it plenty of bright light and some dry period in order to coax it flower but maintain humidity in the growing area. Give it some bloom booster - slightly less concentration than what the instruction manual tells you to use.

thanks for the info, we'll check them out at the tiange on jul19, hehe dont be
embarrassed on the amount you're willing to spend, because i am at the same boat as
you, its just the wife keeps a tight leash on my spending habit hehe.
the catt looks lovely, it is now happily hanging in my grow area, can't wait for it to bloom
i dont have plans of dividing it since i liked how crowded it looked, i do have plans on
repotting it to a plastic pot as it is potted in a clay pot and its just too heavy, but i'll
wait for it to finish blooming before doing that. i have already applied fungicide and
insecticide to the new additions just a preventive measure, i should have applied ferts
to them this morning but it was raining hard so i'll probably do that tomorrow.
next month i'm gonna get another catt from that farm, its just a small farm specializing
in Vandas and Catts. he showed me another farm here that specializes in Waling-Waling
we're gonna check them out when we have the time.
thanks
