I took the plunge and bought two miniatures off someone I had bought from before, they are divisions from adult plants, ( hard to believe considering theyre mini size) and I was so excited when they arrived this morning as they are more mini than I had imagined. they are
Bulbophyllum javanicum ( long slim one)
Hapalochilus dolychoglottis ( tiny thumb sized one)
Apparently the Hapalochilus dolychoglottis is quite rare so I better not kill it
I think they are darling little things and really rather beautiful.
Congratulations! They are both little cuties!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for them to bloom for you for many years to come!
Thanks Margo, I can hope.
I love seeing itty bitties like these!
Carrie, they're beautiful. I'm really looking forward to watching them progress along with you.
Wow, those are so cool! Congratulations!
Cheers,
BD
Thanks Bruce Anne and Meg, I hope I can flower them and they do well for me, trouble is I have pretty vague instructions as to how to look after them but they like to be kept moist, intermediate temps and cant recall the light levels I will have to go look if I was told.
Carrie, a google search reveals that the name of your rare Hapalochilus doychoglottis has apparently been changed, from bulbo (alkmaarense).
Winter Blooming
Shade to Bright; 1500-2500 Footcandles (indirect light, pronounced shadowing)
Temps. Intermediate; 55°F min. to 85°F max.
Daily Watering; 1 or more waterings per day (should not dry out)
Hope this helps you to care for it the way I know you want to do!! Can't wait to see it in bloom.
Thanks so much Anne, that is great news, I just sprayed it and I think its going to need spraying at least twice a day as it was bone dry and it doesnt like to dry out, I cant wait to see it flower, If I can make it flower LOL it is so pretty. Maybe it is just rare to get a hold of In Europe.
