    Default Program ideas . . .

Hey there! I am the programs director for my local society (and Bruce's), and I wondered if you'd be willing to share your ideas for programs. So, what programs has your society done that you particularly like? What programs or topics do you wish they would cover? What do you find most helpful?

I am working on our 2010 program ideas and thought I'd ask all of yah'll. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Our Society did an excellent program by someone called The Orchid Doctor. He gave a demonstration of repotting, and in addition to a great learning experience, it was soooooo hilarious. The guy should be on TV. I think everyone had a great time, and we all learned something.

His "doctor's" uniform was bright yellow scrubs, bright yellow crocs, and bright purple rubber gloves. He was a sight to behold.

You can see a photo of him at: SOS April Meeting 2009 | Sunrise Orchid Society

Hmmmmmmmm.. you could dress up Bruce and let him give the lecture. I'd give anything to see that!! Bruce, how do you look in bright yellow?

    1. Local growers grow areas and what they grow in them... ie, if someone in ur area grows on windowsills, what are the plants to grow in them; if they grow outside under a patio, what plants do they grow; if they grow in a greenhouse, etc etc... i know that would take someone a fair bit of effort compiling info on local growers and their plants, but maybe the members themselves would assist if they are given a form to complete, and then someone can visit these members to take photos, etc etc...

    2. Growing Paphs... (this would have been number one but that would have been too obvious)... there are intermediate growing Paphs (maiudiae-types) and cool growing Paphs (complex hybrids).. what's best for each growing condition.

    3. What's this bug and how do I get rid of it?

    How about:

    Growing in terrariums/orchidariums

    Miniature orchids for small spaces

    Photographing orchids

What judges look for/how best to present your orchids in shows

    ..............
