    Default a visit to the farm series 38

    Because I was so busy, I haven't been to the farm in two weeks. Of those 14 days I think we had only two sunny days. When I got there earlier this morning many blooms were past their prime. Many were also half-eaten by insects, but I don't mind sharing my bounty with the rest of Nature's creatures.
    Just as we were having brunch it started to rain again. Mind you, not the showers that plants love, but a real, tropical, Philippine southern monsoon rain, the kind where you can only see a few meters ahead of you in the highway.

    Each collector has his own favorite orchid. I have already publicly stated that my personal favorite is Vanda (Euanthe) sanderiana, and when one sees a mother plant with multiple spikes and opened blooms, it is not hard to imagine why. This vanda's blooms had opened during the rainy week, and the blooms were half-eaten by insects. Maybe it is a favorite for them, too. On the other hand, this is my most favorite coloring for Vanda sanderiana. Because it was slightly past its prime, the whitish-green background of the upper floral parts were a mellow light golden buttery color, and the tessellations were just rightly prominent, with light red and green color.




    I think it has very regal bearing, fit for the queen of all vandas.
    I shall be back with more plant photos when I get done with photo editing.

    They are beautiful! what a shame they're getting eaten but I guess thats nature for you they have to feed on something LOL I love the vanda and can see why it is a favourite, the markings are beautiful.

    I had a tough time choosing a favorite....the phal fasciata took the prize though! I love all that color and stripes...nice nice one! You have one cool farm my friend...
