Default for those of you fond of hostas in woodland gardens ....

While up visiting my folks, took my sis out to look at hostas (we're still working on her flowerbeds) among other things. One of the places we went impressed me with their landscaping. It is the home of a couple who also sells hostas.

Some of their hostas were simply gigantic! I was also amazed that their plants were in such great shape -- deer hadn't chomped them and even the slugs had not done a great deal of damage.

    a little glade

Loved these chimes! Wonderful mellow sound. Btw, in case anyone is interested -- from top to bottom it was about 2m tall (over 6ft))

beautiful garden! I have or had about 100 varieties of Hosta. Yes some do get big 5" diameter and 4 feet tall...there are also ones that don't get taller than 4" I have not had much problem with deer but slugs can be a nuisance, particularly i wet years like this one. Deer did browse on my Hosta at the lake house.

Beautiful garden! Thanks for the pictures.
I love hostas and try to grow them in the shady areas of my yard, unfortunately the deer also love them.

That is a wonderful garden. It must be so peaceful just to be there. I love the art as well as the nature. Thanks Paul!

    Cheers,

They sell those chimes in the area here...they have the most amazing sounds (and a shocking price tag too). That looks like a wonderful, relaxing park. The hostas are beautiful...my red one is now growing under a banana tree. If they would grow in full sun I'd have flower beds full of them.
