Phal Spike?

I noticed it on my phal today. It looks a little like a spike...I *think* it may be a spike, but I'm not sure. Does it look like a spike?

Hmmm...sounds like a beginner level question, huh?

My rule is wait a couple of days. If it gets bigger, it's a spike. If not, it's a fat mother of a scale.

not a scale. either a spike or a root. probably the former but I think it's too early to tell.

if it starts to look perfectly round, it's a root. if it's flattened a bit, dimpled, or "oblong", then it's probably a spike.

Ditto to what Jmoney said. You can always tell if its a spike or a root by their shape when they first appear. It should be "wedge" shape if its a spike.

It's definitely not perfectly round. More like a pointed shape. Anyways, I took some pics today and it's grown quite a bit! Just an update. I am so eager to know what it is, because it's the first time reblooming that phal. I'm dying to find out... !
