Holy cow! THat maxillaria schunkeana is the truest to black flower that I have ever seen!
It will take a few years befor the price breaks on the "black" 'chids, I bet! There is now a "black" budgerigar being bred, called an anthrocite, that is costing several thousands whan one can find it on the market.
Cindi, I googled the black budgie and there was this amazing website on all the different colours of budgies... what an amazing bird it is... so beautiful in all it's different combinations.

guess what! I was at an orchid nursery helping out today (weeding.. although I was probably more trouble than help ) anyways, there was this Maxillaria schuneana there and it is as black as that picture! I should have taken another pic! Maybe next time I'm up there.
Like this thread lots at the moment.. I wonder if there are other "Black Orchids"...
