I went to the store a couple times this week with no intentions of buying myself any plants. But I noticed some new 'mini' phals. And the sunny yellow one caught my eye & made it's way to the cash register with me.
I had to go back to that same store the next day for some stuff. And I noticed a cute lil phal with delicately striped flowers and spotted leaves. I figured what's one more. They are fairly small. And orchids do better in groups

Of course the 'pots' have no holes. So I drilled a hole in the bottom of each. And the one has another hole on the side. After the flowers fall off I'll repot.

Congrats, Nicki! They are both beautiful! I am sure you changed the story a little, right? (I've done it!) I know you wanted them both the first time, but you had to pick only one so you made your choice, but then thinking about the other one made you go back the next day and take it home, because you just can't go without it! I can see why and I see more blooms on the way and....... Enjoy!!!

Those are great. And I'm glad you are planning to repot. Those pots are pretty, but won't make for happy roots or plants in the long run. Great finds!

Beautiful blooms on both. I especially like the phal with the spotted leaves. I never can find one like that here on the "redneck riviera". Good job Nicki

Hey! We had those EXACT ONES in our store!! Same color and all. You picked some very nice ones, great job! I saw a pink one like that too, but not the spotted leaved one. You're so lucky!

I don't understand why they put them in those "no hole" containers. I bought one a month ago and I immediately re potted it. Everytime I went back to the store, I slowly saw them disappear. 2 weeks ago, I saw one all by its lonesome, so I picked it up and took it to the garden center. I asked what they do with them when all the flowers fall and they said, "We throw them away" OMG, I almost had a heart attack when she said that.

Anyway, I asked if I could get a discount on the one I was holding, and they said no. Since I had already purchased one, I didn't buy it. I regret not saving it.

Yeah I think it's stupid to pot them like that. But for people who don't know better it's a good selling point. Pretty flower in a nice vase looking pot. They don't even have on the tag to repot or mention how important draining is. The store I got these ones at has a discount rack for all plants that are out of bloom or dying. That is the first I've seen spotted leaves.
    "redneck riviera" LOL
