Nice colour combo Bill!
Very well grown.
Very pretty. The color combination is stunning. Good growing. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, Bill,
Congratulations on the beautiful plant, and on your close-up photography. I just learned that my Canon Powershot A590 has a built-in close-up lens. It's not as good as a separate lens, and I tried to get one when my Potinara Burana Beauty bloomed this week. But no one has the lenses in town.
So here's the best I could do. Got this plant last week from a grower. It came with 6 buds, and all 6 buds bloomed this week. I can take no credit for any of it.
There was another specimen at the grower's which had a delicate rose fragrance. Maybe my plant got tired and just couldn't muster the rose smell.
Have any of you caught a whiff of the fragrance?
Romulus
Hi, Romulus. Love your bloom pic. I really love this catt and yes mine had a nice almost lite rose fragrance. It did loose it towards the end and seemed to have it only during the day. I can take credit for those particular pics. My partner took those. He is into photography almost as much as I am into orchids. Have know idea what type of lenses he used. He has all types and sizes. I just use a little digital camera that has no bells or whistles. Those big lenses scare me! LOL Bill
Beautiful blooms and very well-grown.
Thank you Bill & Yew,
Below is another photo of the Pot. Burana Beauty I bought last week. I have now detected the ROSE fragrance in its 5 blossoms. The scent is present only by day.
Yesterday I got my copy of Steven A. Frowine's "Fragrant Orchids." Frowine claims Burana Beauty has a CITRUS fragrance. My Beauty is "rose." Either scent would be ok with me.
I recommend this book as a valuable resource.
Romulus
Romulus, scent is so subjective and our description of scent depends so much upon our 'experience referral' but I also think there's a hint of rose in Burana Beauty.[ But who am to say this? I'm no 'scentist' . hahaha]
Pictures like these show why the catt is called "The Queen of Orchids." This plant is just stunning!
Regards,
Dail
Bill, you have a really beautiful plant here! Congrats on the gorgeous blooms! How old is your plant? What caught my eye were the leafless p.bulbs. I also have a burana beauty - an older bushy plant I bought some 5 or 6 years ago and it doesn't have a single leafless p.bulb yet... I wonder what would be more typical of this plant - for the p.bulbs to keep the leaves or to go leafless? Maybe fellow burana growers will also chime in with their observations?
Here's my plant:
