treatment for fungus

I just read on another forum that ''there is no cure for fungal infection''. Have any of you ever been told this?

Nope...I thought of that. But the question was about fungus and the response was ''no cure for fungus infections''.........this person is a commercial orchid grower too. Luckily, I don't think his reply was correct. But, hey, maybe he knows something I don't. (Hopefully not)

Fungal infections should be curative if they are caught early enough. It is not a systemic pathogen but rather an opportunistic invader. Fungal infections can occur more commonly in plants that are already weakened by viruses or other diseases. You should be able to remove the affected portion of the plant with a sterilized blade and then treat the rest of the plant with an antifungal.

I don't have antifungal, but I use power cinnamon.

Could they have been talking about Fusarium? It's a systemic fungus that is highly resistant to antifungal treatment.

I suspect the discussion was about a specific fungal infection that might not be treatable. Otherwise, why would there be fungicides?

They could indeed be talking about Fusarium or perhaps advanced fungal infections that involved the pseudobulbs or crown. I have a Tolumnia that has some sort of fungal infection I am trying to get rid of. Its down from several fans to about four now.

I got a new flask of aerides houlletianna, and the vendor told me to use a tablet of an over the counter sold medicine (Neo chinosol) used for gargling to treat my plants if they have any infection. It is supposedly kills fungi and is a secret used by many deflaskers ! May be you want to try it out.
