Talking Spath Sale and Hoya Frog

So yeah I went to a big box store to get a couple flowers to replace the dried up snapdragons that once thrived there. Summer here does mean things to plants! I was a good girl...it was easy as the baggie babies were soaking in puddles and their other stuff was wayyyy overpriced. So I sauntered with my chin up to check out and there was a huge stand with spathoglottis for $2.50 apiece! I asked the woman if the "1" had fell off the pricetag because usually they go for ten dollars more. So...smug attitude wiped away, I bought two. First time I got a purple one....or two.

Today outside, I found a frog looking for refuge from the rain in my hoya. I startled him and he'd jumped out of the water barrel (i think). From the looks of his hind quarters he was laying eggs. He's a pretty guy...they are usually in the downspouts, but the rain usually chases them out. Thought I'd just add him onto this post...anybody know what kind he is?

    Thanks for looking...

Those are really cute, Connie. Good for you! And your hoya's friend looks pretty at home there.

    Cheers,

Connie, we should've stop by the box store last week! I want to plant spathoglottis outside but I don't have any yet (white one comming next week on the mail). For this price I was going to fill up my car!!!! And the little guy is very cute by the way!
(I wonder if I should go check our local box store again tomorrow?!?!?!)

For that price I'd have grabbed a couple too -- even though they are really too big for my apt over the winter.

(Btw, if the little froggie was laying eggs, then not much chance of it being a "he" LOL )

Well guys, this post is just another example of the forum enabling me. 2.50 is such a good deal, and I got 2 of them not too long ago from a local nursery for that price. Anyways, saw the post, looked at the pics and found myself going back there this morn on the off chance they'd have a few left. And so now I am the owner of 4 Spathos that are way too big. I must rearrange my bedroom growing area!! But, your new Spathos look real healthy, congrats on the discount!

hahaha... oh, Derek, hang around here for long and you will be sleeping on the couch because there will not be enough room in your bed for you because of all the orchids.

So, lets see a photo of the new additions!

    Cheers,
    BD

Default The cheap ones always grow so well

I had to update the pics of the ground orchid. Both are outdoing themselves. I took pics of the one going insane. Literally everytime I look there are more flower spikes! As of today...there are 11 flower spikes on this plant.
