Just smell it and it has very little fragrance. At least it is not smelly. BTW, I don't smell my Bulbo that much...

I think my bulbo phal is finally spiking. You could come over and give it a whiff if you want, Tom.

LOL! That one smells bad! I have a NBS plant, and I want to sell/trade that space hog after I bloom it at least once.

We have been growing this one for a few years now. Each time I think it is about to bloom, it puts out another huge leaf. This time, the new growth (hopefully spike) is different. I hope to post photos of it if indeed it actually is a real spike this time.

    Cheers,

BD - I have a Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis I bought a couple of months ago. The longest leaf is about 25 cm or so and about 8 cm wide. How long do these take to mature, in your experience? I also have a Bulb. fletcherianum seedling that has got some growing to do but is thriving thus far. I look forward to your thoughts.

Hi Brandon - 25 cm is about 10 inches? Our bulbophyllum phalaenopsis has four large p-bulbs and four large leaves. The smallest is about 18 inches. The largest is 35 inches. It has not bloomed for us yet. It was a division of a blooming plant. It had two leaves when we got it a few years ago. This year I have increased the light it gets in hope of getting a bloom. You can see the red color in the leaves from the sunlight. It is usually very 'green'. That is why I am hopeful for blooms this time. Here are some shots:

This one is the growth that I am hoping is a spike. But my luck, it will be another p-bulb. lol.

Okay, now, back on topic with bulbo dearei.

    Cheers,
    BD

    Not a problem at all.
Bruce, I hate to say it but it is not what you are hoping for. Nice plant and it should bloom any time now.
