Several years ago I made a mini-catt crossed, had the pods flasked, and grew them until they flowered. Then I crossed two of the nicer ones to get the next generation. Since the outfit that flasked my first pods was not accepting more pods, I found someone else. I had a couple of email exchanges about the status of my pod and then waited. After 4 or 5 months I emailed and got no response. Their phone was no longer in service. This was perhaps three years ago. I was not a happy camper, bitched at the time to an orchid list or two.
The other day I was putzing around looking at the cost of flasks. I'm going to be co-moderating a seminar on orchids in the spring for my learning in retirement group, and thought a session on deflasking might be interesting. And one of the flasking services I found is offering flasks of unknown crosses cheap. Real cheap. With a note at the bottom of the page saying these came from a flasking service that went out of business.
Is this standard practice? Did my flasking vendor three years ago simply sell my flask to someone? I'm not mentioning the flasking service because it's possible that this is not what happened.
Sorry to be so long-winded about this.
Janet
Now Janet, I cannot help you with this, but you surely have given me a nightmare. I was planning to send my precious Catt. cross to a seed sowing service, I surely would appreciate any reply from more experienced people.
