Are these sunburn spots and what type of orchid is it?

I got these from a friend and have nursed them back to health. I noticed that these spots cropped up in the last few months or so. My porch faces northwest, so they get full evening sun and it often get pretty hot in the evening on my deck 95+. I have since pulled this out of the direct sun and put it a more shaded spot. I have also sprayed it with fungicide just in case. Can anyone tell me what it is? I water it twice a week... its bark and it's warm so I don't think it's getting too wet,the roots look very healthy. Also, does anyone know what type this is? My friend had no idea.

hmmm, looks like a epidendrum to me.
cant tell you about the spots, but i guess you did the right thing by moving it away from that hot spot, maybe later when its bigger you could slowly put it back there.
make sure the plant gets some airflow, in case the spots turn out to be fungi.

Yeah, looks like epi to me too. The spots could be due to over exposure or not enough ventilation. It's good you've moved it from that hot spot, but try increasing air movement around the plant if it's in a stuffy corner

It looks like it needs a bit more air movement. The spots are not bad and the plant looks healthy otherwise. Oh, and I will agree with Eric and Ron - an epidendrum of some type.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I do have a fan blowing on the porch now. I sprayed it with a fungicide and trimmed some of the worst spots of with a sterile blade and put cinnamon on it. I'll just keep it out of hot spots... it's getting to be fall now so it shouldn't be much of a problem anymore.
