*sigh* Wish they were mine. Saw these beauties at a conservatory near my sister's place. It's run by Michigan State University. Some the pics were hard to get and I sort of figured that there might be "issues" if I tried moving them to places where I could arrange them more to my liking -- like my apt LOL

The 101 year old and the 71 year old are impressive simply because of age. WOW. All are stunning. My favorite is the 71 year old.

I really need to try to grow a bonsai. I have seen smaller (younger) ones for sale at pretty reasonable prices. Maybe in the spring...

    cheers,
    BD

All of the trees have their own beauty. I grow a few indoors, though I'd like a few really good ones.
After going to Guangzhou, China, where some of the tropical bonsai is produced, I realize they ship their second class crop into north america for retail. Some of their best live plant are displayed in the international side of the air port! (china is the main producer of those bonsai in malls, not suprisingly) Bonsai is called Penjing in China, where the art originated

    Really nice pics.
I don't have the artistic vision need to grow these. Seeing these makes me want to try again.
    Thanks for sharing.

I especially like the first pinus, the 71 yr old one, and the Cotoneaster. I used to grow Bonsai when I was living in Mauritius, but had to leave all behind when I moved here. I have started again with some very young ones, and it's my second interest after Orchids
