This is such a striking species. You know, when I've seen pictures of the hybrids made from this plant, my reaction is the hybrids seem to pick up the weakest characteristics of both parents and causes me to wonder *why* anyone would want to come up with a hybrid when the parent is so great.
Question--do you grow this on the cool side?
Cheers,
Rob
P.S. Although my question was directed to Ed, I'd also be interested in what temperatures others grow it in.
Hi Rob. Don't do anything special with them but keep them well shaded. Temperature in summer in the greenhouse gets pretty warm and on some days exceeds 100 degrees with night s around 17 degrees. At this time of year the daytime temp rarely reaches 23degrees with a night temp of 13degrees. the house is 14.5ft x 8.5ft and holds paphs phrags multi-florals and cattleyas and all seem to do fairly well.
