A Brachy x Cochlo crossing ???? Primary hybrid ???
hi tim,
paph 'tim's delight', just dont know the vine in the background....lol
am i close???
hmmm? I like the coloring on the pouch and can see it is a multi-floral paph. hmmm?
Cheers,
BD
Hi Roy, yes, u r on the right track... it is indeed a Primary Hybrid.. and yes two species from the Brachypetalum group and the other from the Cochlopetalum group.
so just to clarify, a primary hybrid is where two species is used to make a hybrid.
Ron, good guess but alas, it is named after someone else
So, Bruce, yes, it is a multi-floral, from the cochlo influence... the other bud is plumping up so it would be interesting to see if it opens up with two flowers at the same time.
cheers
tim
Ok, I'll have a go at P. Eira = concolor x chamberlainianum
oooh so close but not quite... I can confirm that one of those is a parent
OK, concolor has to be one parent I think, that means the other parent would be either P. victoria-mariae or Paphiopedilum kalinae ( victoria-regina v. kalinae ) ie chamberlainianum.
I say concolor because the flower shape is distinct to concolor as bellatulum, godefroyae & niveum give very different petals visible in most/all progeny, plus color softening.
Roy, actually u got the other one right
Is it concolor x victoria-mariae?
