i would consider that smaller phal to be short of water. That medium looks bone dry. Phals don't like to dry out completely.

Hi, Everyone,
I read all the recommendations in this thread. And I'd like to ask you a problem of my own.
I have a small Phalaenopsis with leaves that are a dark green. The lower, older leaves appear to be very soft-- almost leathery.
I keep this plant near an east facing window. I never allow direct sunlight, but do open the blinds after mid-morning.
Here's what it looks like.
I'd appreciate your advice.

Yes, water looks due... make sure it drains well and be a bit more generous in your watering in the future. You should see results in 5 days!
I agree. You rarely see orchids that are underwatered, but I think you've got a couple there. Soak them thoroughly once a week. The leathery leaves may not get much better, but the new growth should be fine.
