    Default bleach or peroxide...

does it matter? i'm thinking ahead. i'm all over that diy guide in the articles, where bleach is used to scrub the pod the h202 is used to sterilize the seeds. does it matter which you choose? are both equally effective for either step?

Seems like the guide suggests Bleach. I would go with that, but I have never tried to flask my own orchids.

    Cheers,

usually done in a sterile environment...glove box or hood. The flask and sowing medium needs to be sterile in advance. It is not an easy home project. I seen people use 10 gal fish tanks on it's side and draped with plastic. The inside of the tank is sprayed with bleach solution just prior to proceeding. But hands and tools, ect all need to be sterile. A pressure cooker can be used instead of an autoclave for sterilization of equipment.

Before I get myself involved in this matter, I would to ask about putting in the flask or bottle in pressure cooker to sterilize them. Can they break in the cooker under high pressure and temperature?

Another thing, how about pottassium permanganate instead of bleach and peroxide?

I wouldn't risk the glass in the pressure cooker even if it is Pyrex. You can try Physan or bleach to sterlize it.

Remember that bleach 'sterilizes' by causing what ever it comes in contact with to rot. You don't want bleach on the seeds them selves.

I am worried the flasks or glass containers might break under heavy pressure. Will try the safer method.
