Default What's up with all the 'Brother' Phals?

This is one of those questions that has kind of bugged me forever, but I'm too lazy to do any research. It seems like 9 out 10 times I see a Phal I like it's a 'Brother' something or another. In fact, 5 out of the 8 Phals I have are 'Brother Phals'. I didn't plan that.

So, what's up with that? Why so many? Any other historical/breeding info you care to offer?

    I wish to be enlightened.

That's the "Brother" Phal nursery in Taiwan. Huge orchid factory. At this point, I can safely say that 95% of the Phals being hybridized and cloned these days originated from there. Brother Purple 'Brother' is more than likely responsible for just about all the "quality" reds around, and more and more different things are coming out every day...

    Literally.

Thank you Louis. I would imagine 'Sogo' is something similar.

Yep, more naming from the "Brother"-hood. Sogo Prince, Sogo this, Sogo that, Golden Peoker, all from the Brother nursery.
