Default 1 year old Phal, and confused... Please help.

I'm an unexperienced orchid grower but I've had my Phal for about a year. My boyfriend bought it last Valentine's Day and it bloomed for about 6 months, including new buds. The flowers then fell off and it has been dormant ever since. I'm worried that I'm not doing something right. I've kept watering it so that the soil is moist, it is in my kitchen that faces East and that room gets indirect sunlight. I've read the forums but I still don't understand what I'm doing wrong. If anyone has ideas, please let me know or direct me where I can read up on Phals or something. Thanks!

If it is staying pretty wet, you could have damaged roots. It looks like it is potted in sphag. A larger photo might help us to see what the problem (if any) your orchid is having.

I zoomed in on your pics...your phal is potting too deeply into the sphag. It should be sitting up higher. Also; your potting material looks old. If it smells bad you should repot. Your flower spike should be removed when you repot so the plant can rest. If you would like some nice flowers, for now I would recommend buying a new phal while your other rests up for it's next spike.

Thanks to everyone for getting back to me so quickly. I haven't used any fertilizer because I heard through a coworker that it could damage the orchid. I have posted some more photos but, unfortunately I have no digital camera right now so I'll do the best with the one on my phone. When I repot do I use moss again or something else? I've just kept it as is since that's how I got it. Thanks again!

I would suggest you take it out, clean the roots, soak them in Hidrogen Peroxide for about 5 min. and leave it bare root for about at least a week or two- only spray the roots every morning, but don't let them soak in water. After that you can pot it in bark mix (you can buy it from the box store). Here is one link that I think will help you: Re-potting my Phalaenopsis - Orchid Article Library
Or you can mount it and that way overwatering won't be an issue.
Here you can find many more posts that will help you! Good luck and keep us posted!
