I was going to toss this because after 6 years it hadn't bloomed. Decided to give it one more chance. I just don't have trouble reblooming these things in general so I don't know what was up with this one.
Dtps. (Happy Valentine x Sun Prince) 'B#1' x Phal. Cassandra 'Red'
Oh yes, it's a mini.

Sorry, none. I wish it would produce some. I think this plant could make good trade material. My only gripe with most Phals is their size. I just don't have the room for a whole bunch of the standard ones. This entire plant with the spike is only about 14 inches in length. I think I need to find some more of these wee ones.Originally Posted by Gilda
That's the nice thing about the species. Well, a nice thing. About some of the species (e.g. not Phal. gigantea). Anyway, you knew what I meant.Originally Posted by TundraKev
Very nice, very floriferous Dtps., and even better that it's so compact!
LOL@the compost threat working! Very nice plant, there.
So, if I got your big bad self on the phone to threaten my reluctant bloomers, do you think it would work?

Well, we could try that. You have to make certain there aren't any children within a block or so. I had to take a crash course in Learn How to Speak Like a Very, Very Drunk, Mad Sailor before I learned the language of orchids.Originally Posted by RSJ

Very pretty! Nice colors.
Blooming trick: scare your orchid by threatening and it'll bloom...
It works...

Oh - and I thought my chids were happy because of my great light!
I both sail and race (augments mad sailor vocabulary with more imperatives and expletives) and I'm a sailing judge (does all aforementioned while invoking the name of the almighty - helps establish authority and earnest intent.)
I'll trying calling for a few more tacks and jibes before I give up on the losers!
Julie
spectacular!
Was it in bloom when you purchased it?
I guess after 6 years of waiting , it really put a show on for you.
