    Default Dendrobium aphyllum

Another lovely Indian orchid species. The flowers have just begun to open. I took the pictures while in a rush to work today morning. I will post another set of photos (hopefully better ones) once they open up.

I got this last July and never expected it to bloom with the kind of rough handling it got from me! It has put out new growth and rewarded me with these lovely flowers. I need to make a specimen out of this. One is the bigger of the two and the other was a large keiki from this plant. The keiki was just mounted on to a moss stick (the moss stick can be seen in the first image) and the mother plant is hung from a coconut husk shell. They should open up completely by this weekend.

The plant is in full bloom now. Counted over 50+ flowers and gave up. Got his last June and never expected so many blooms for a first time bloom even though it was badly treated! Need to ensure it is able to put many more new growths this year!!!!

    quite a show!
they need a dry period in order to bloom, after you can water em normally for the new growths.

Ron, I water mine all year around, and still they flower. The thing is I plant them in only pot shards, may be that dries quickly and the temp. changes induce flowering.

Since this was the first year with species for me, I too did not really pay a lot of attention to dry rest. But yet they bloomed, maybe because most of them were potted in charcoal. I need to religiously try this, as couple more of my species have not bloomed and a dry rest hopefully should trigger them next year.
