    Default Paphiopedilum moquettianum

    This one flowers forever....
The flower on the picture is the first one on a new growth, but the old growth will soon get its 13th consecutive flower (with some keiki's in between)Name: Orchideeën+Maart+2010+076[2].jpg

Unfortunately number 13 has brought bad luck.
All of a sudden most of the plant is turning brown, it must be some sort of fungi.
Have quickly cut away most of the growth, incl. flower nr. 14 that was in the making....

Ouch. Sorry that happened. I have a Paph Pinocchio (of which moquettianum is a parent) that just dropped bloom #12. #13 and#14 are in-the-making.

I kept cutting away new parts that were getting infected.
Finally today the remnants made it to the compost pile....

Sorry to hear it. That means you get to buy another orchid to replace it.

Sorry to hear the demise of your moquettianum. It was such a beautiful paph. Hope you'll be able to replace it. The same thing almost happened to my glaucophyllum. When the mother plant started turning brown and the spike wilted, I just left it alone and new keikis started to form from the old leafless stump and now I have 4 fans two of which have spikes carrying buds, but the new plants seem to be rather stunted ; half the size of the original. I am afraid to replant or divide the plant at the moment.
