    Default What's wrong with pseudobulb?

I have three cattleyas that are showing deformed new growth, right at the time when a leaf is beginning to grow from the pb. However the orchids are just fine. Here's some culture info: I grow indoors, water every weekend, fertilize "weekly, weakly" with a flush once a month. The humidity has ranged from 35-50% this winter. I use 4 T5 lights (6500K each).

    Thanks for your help!

I would guess there are some root problems. It looks like they need water which could mean that the roots are not able to take in water. Just a guess. Have you looked at the roots lately? Cattleyas like to be potted tight too.

    cheers,

The catt in the second pic was repotted about two weeks ago and the roots looked good. However it has looked dehydrated for about two months even with regularly scheduled watering. The catt in the third pic experienced root loss this year and is slowly growing them back. The catt in the first pic has been doing well and the roots are fine, but I don't know why the sheath is wrinkling.

I'm not really sure what to make of all this. I don't understand why these three are having this problem and the others are not. I will try watering them more often to see if that helps. I'm just afraid the future growths will end up this way too.

If you increase watering, be sure the plants media dries out before you next water. Water should run through the pot freely and the roots should turn bright green when they are open and taking in the water. Good luck!!
