What are the black splotches on the leaf in the first photo? A couple of my phals have this and are now in quarantine. Both of them are sending up a huge flower spike but the blotches are disturbing.

I had a pha from keiki too.
I removed the keiki when the spike became dry.
Then, the keiki was put in a glass jar to maintain higher humidity level.
I mounted it on a piece of cork, as it was too hard for me to guess when i should water it otherwise.
it looked happy now but grew very slow (maybe too cold here?).
My pha from keiki. It grew really slow. It was its third year.

I once had a Phalaenopsis much like this one, mind blowing how a flower so beautiful that seems so unobtainable in western culture as a "houseplant" yet time and time again it proves its substance well over style and comes back and back always a bit more resilient it truly is inspiring
Wow - to think that lovely flower came out of that. Cheers!!
