    Default Pholidota chinensis 'Riopelle'

First spike is fully open. Here is the flower detail. I really like this plant.

Very nice - right up there in the 'weird one' category! Cool!

Cute little ones. Any chance of viewing the whole plant, RSJ? I think I might have seen this plant among the medicinal plant display during the HK Flower Show.

    Tanya,

Here is the whole plant, with a pencil for scale.

Is that close enough to give you the idea?

That is nice. I keep on telling myself that I'm going to stop collecting these little oddball things. I think I need to rethink that decision.

Thanks RSJ, it looks exactly like the one I saw at the show. That one has no flower but it has a growth (spike?) that looks like the tail of a rattlesnake.

Tanya, that's the spike, exactly like a rattlesnake tail at first, then the buds plump up, open outward from the stem and separate.

I have a picture of it about a week ago before the buds opened fully posted on the Not In Bloom section, titled "Almost In Bloom". There is no fragrance, but so pretty.

Totally agree. And the buds *are* just as pretty as the open flower, IMHO.

    Really good work, RS...
