Question not sure what this guy is but we call him the space plant

We got this plant when it was a tiny little nub back in 1995 or 1996. It is a slow grower, but always blooms and blooms throughout the summer. Today we were spraying in the greenhouse and since it always drops its leaves when we spray in there, I took it outside and put it on the porch. Since I had my camera handy I snapped a few shots to share.

I have posted this guy once before, but noone really knew what he is. Some suggested he was from the Euphorbiaceae group and others said maybe the scheflera family. If you know, we would love to know so we can tag this little guy. Otherwise he will lovingly be called Mr. Space Plant or my Sunshine plant.

    Any ideas?

Very interesting plant BD. When you break off a leaf or the flower does it ooze out a milky liquid? If it does it could be from the Euphorbiaceae family.

Well it appears I can narrow down your search. My sources tell me that it is some sort of Dorstenia possibly Dorstenia foetida

It is about 12 total inches from where the plant leaves the soil at the top of the pot. I snapped a photo to show the scale. The yardstick shows the tallest spike right at 15 inches and the plant is potted in a four inch tall clay pot (about one inch from the top of the pot).

I did not think it did, Yew, and because it had so few leaves I didn't want to break one off to test it, but I did anyway because I want to know what this guy is. So, to answer your question: Yes

And here is a side shot showing the tiny hairs that come from the center of the flower bloom. They are so fine it is hard for me with my little point and shoot to get a really good shot.
