    Default Pinkish Violet Ascocenda

I'm not sure about the identity of this one. I suspect it to be an ascocenda or perhaps even a Menziesara but I think we don't have the latter in Cotabato yet.

Whatever, it always has colorful medium-sized flowers in a medium tight cluster.

Thank you Randy. It's one of my favorites. I like its being medium sized. Normally, in the Philippines, orchids of this shape and color are on the large side.

Awesome Angel. Haven't seen this one before. Could be semi-terete ascocenda and I suspect it has JVB in its parentage, looking at the lip. Very good colour too.

LOve the yellow throat; it really set the bloom off.

    Thank you Yew Sung.

Forgive my ignorance but I had this notion that ascocendas are all semi-strap. It was only recently that I began to consider that some ascocendas can be more on the terete side as well. This one is definitely more terete than strap as you can see some of its upper leaves in the second photo.

It was also my first time to see one in an orchid farm a year ago. That's why it caught my interest and I just had to buy it. I just loved the color and shape and size of the flowers right away.

Thank you Bruce, Satish, and Tami. Indeed it has a wonderful color.

You know, when I first espied this orchid in an obscure corner of an orchid farm, it was suffering from the El Nino, very hot temperatures during the dry season. Most leaves were beginning to show signs of stress by shriveling, though it still managed a few blooms. The seller was even hesitant to sell it to me because it may die and he didn't want me to think that he took advantage of me. But I was insistent and took it at my own risk. Well, it paid off.
