Cool Indoor Under Lights Grow Area

I have changed the lighting area again. I did remove the 1 T-5 48" high out put reflector. Now I have Two 65 watt spot grow lights, that aren't currently being used. On the top shelf two T-5 24" 24 watt high out put w/reflector lights ,one grow bulb & one bloom bulb. For two den. kekies and one phal. The middle shelf has two T-8 24" 18 watt grow bulbs, for 4 phal. and the bottom shelf has four T-5 20" 14 watt bulbs for 2 paph. and 1 phal. I also placed Permaflect reflective wall covering on the back wall and also on the top of each shelf. I can use the far right side of the shelf with the spot bulbs for any really tall plants or any plants that need more space. The middle and top shelves are adjustable. I had to drill ventation holes in the mounting bracket for the lights under the second shelf. Have Fun,Rich

Awww...spot looks so happy in her new home! Her twin is blooming out now too...glad to see it happily blooming along for you. I am thinking of getting a couple lights for the "winter garage orchid corner"....I didn't realise you need so many lights. Hmm...

Connie,I still have room for more. All those babies were on the top shelf and part of the middle shelf. I just needed less work for now. I think they would do better outdoors in the sun. I did repot Spot into bark mix and phal. mix. She is still in bloom and has more buds to open. Take care,Rich

Nice setup! I have the impression that the T8 is brighter than the T5s... Brighter than the reg T5 for sure and maybe of the HOT5 or on par. What is your impression? and heat generated?

Stefano, In the photo the T-8 seem brighter but the T-5 HO with the polished reflector is the brightest.I also have one blooming bulb which has more of a redish tint than a blue/white color. I think that the lack of the reflector on the T-8 makes them look brighter. The other T-5's needed a bulb replacement.I just did do that.I will need to post another pic. As far as heat, the all seem close to being the same. I do not detect any really hot conditions. I have a temp. gauge on the middle shelf just above the 4 T-5 bulbs (82 /F 27.8/ C) I hope this helps Rich

Thanks... so you find anyway the normal standard T5s brighter than the T8s?

Nice job Rich. Does the reflective back wall seem to provide a more balanced lighting to the plants?
