Default a small home made Orchidarium

Here's a little orchidarium I am in the process of creating. I got some lovely species phals that I wanted to baby a bit with some extra humidity and so I tried this little experiment.

Not to miss- the oh so elegant lighting set up! I've changed this since- it looks better now. Need to take new pictures now.

Here's the star of my orchidarium. This is what inspired the whole deal.

this is phalaenopsis minus- no, no fragrance, Byron. I've been looking for this one a long time.
Thanks for your kind words about my orchidarium. It needs a bit of tweaking, though.

Hi Gita! I really love your little orchidarium. It's really nice. I want to ask though how often do you water those orchids on the slabs prominently displayed in the second picture? I have some orchids mounted in slabs like those but really have no idea how often I have to water. They are "bone" dry (even the sphagnum moss in them) easily the next day, does that mean watering them everyday?

Very nice! I never have much luck with very tiny orchids.

I have the same problem with the mounts- even in the orchidarium with the hygrometer reading 70%, the mounts are bone dry. So put in a fogger, hoping to improve conditions. We'll see...

Me too, Janet! I had a tiny bulbo which was doing great, but it's fighting a bad fungus attack and hasn't bloomed again in 2 months. I'm hoping my phal minus will like the tank - and there's plenty of air circulation so it won't (hopefully) catch any nasties...

A kingidium deliciosum was blasting its buds, but after a couple of days in the tank the buds seem to be growing and swelling- maybe they'll bloom now..(OK I need a smiley here for "fingers crossed")
