Chloraea membranacea is a terrestrial orchid from Argentina (found only in Buenos Aires, Corrientes, Santa Fe, and Entre RĂ**os), Uruguay, and Brazil. They grow wild and they are sometimes seen in gardens, but people do not realize that they have them. It has abundant, wide roots, that are used as a storage for the plant. Its leaves have a lanceolate shape, and grow into a rosette shape during autumn and winter. Then it grows a 25-40 cm apical inflorescence, which flowers around October (spring). It normally has from 8 to 12 white/green flowers. Once the flowers die, the plant looses its leaves.

very pretty! Wish I could find them in my garden
very nice. Rarely seen. Do they produce seedpods?
P.
thats nice and something new from argentina!
I guess they do produce seedpods (don't they all?), but I'm not sure, I've never had mine pollinated.
Nice! I've never heard of this type before.
This one is new to me as well. I love the photographs you share with us. It is nice to see the plant as well as the bloom details.
Cheers,
