sowing orchid seeds

when sowing seed onto orchid media, how do we estimate how much seed to sow at a time. what happens when we sow too much seed in a jar, will overcrowding killed the entire flask or some will still survive?
never tried flasking before but had two seed pods of doritis out there (self cross) so tot of experimenting with it. thanks for any input.
