    Lightbulb Saving the Outdoor Orchids

As stated in other postings, it is way to cold for the orchids to stay outdoors. I did set up a 4 ft. T-5 light over my bathtub. While it isn't really enough light for long term growing, it sure beats freezing to death. I also had some room on the orchid shelf under lights for a few others and a couple that were still in bloom. Fridays weather should be warm enough for these kids to go back outside, I hope. Take Care,Rich

Nice going, Rich. Hope you get better weather soon. Here we're getting unseasonal rain and 3 of my mini catts have rotted. This year we are having the El Nino effect again but it seems to be good for fishing though. We're having a good run of narrow-barred mackerel ( called 'Spanish mackerel' by Australians and 'king mackerel' by Americans) schoolies, not big 3-9kg but good sport on light tackle and great on the table. 4 of my friends went out last Friday and returned with 40 of them. No catch limit here just self-imposed ones!! Do I hear howls of horror?

It was 10 below 0 this morning. I keep a window open in the basement with my orchids. It was 56 down there this morning - I closed the window........that should spike a few cool growers! Good luck on that cold snap in the south. I know it happens but how can you plan for it?

Rich...we'll be hoping for it to warm up so you can bathe again soon. lol Gotta say though...it'd be great for putting some steam around the roots.

Rich, that looks great! I bet the reflected light from the white bathtub helps also and it must make watering a bit easier than having these guys in a window. All of your orchids look very healthy. Nice growing. It is easy to see how much you care for your orchids.

    Cheers,
    BD
