Hi guys. This is my Epi. bees knees. I got it in an orchid show2 years ago. I remember the vendor telling me that it is an orchid for a beginner. It was a very healthy plant then (as is still now) so I gladly took it home and hanged it under a gum tree. Some months ago it started to throw some spikes, 7 I counted! But then I had to go away for a week and when I came back 5 of it were eaten by some caterpillar and some were starting to devour the last two, so I was just in time. Anyway this is whats left of it, I am just thankful that I got to see what the flowers look like and I really love it. One of my favorites I think and next year I sure will be more vigilant with these pesky caterpillars.
Beautiful!!!
That's real pretty,Carl.
Yes this is certainly a healthy orchid that has decided to bloom its heart out for you! It sounds like the admiration is mutual. Actually there were three admirers, but thank goodness the catepillars are gone now! These blooms have a subtle beauty to them I very much like. AL
Very nicely bloomed!
Cheers,
BD
WOW, Carl! I'm looking at these pics. and it sure looks like an encyclia to me. Does it have any fragrance? Please let me know, as I LOVE encyclias, and have many of them. Betty :-)
Really like the color---especially the shading. I also thought it was an encyclia.
Very pretty. Looks like Enc. tampensis.
those catapillars and snails too can be real moral crushers.........nice epidendrum
(? i assume it is) i have epi. polybulbon, but i have never seen it flower. fingers crossed!
Hi guys, thanks again! It's been a very busy start of the year for me that I rarely get time to read the postings here and admire the beautiful orchid blooms. I read your postings here and curiously enough I tried to google Epi. Bees knees but it didn't come up with anything but when I put it Encyclia Bees knees it came up with a picture very similar to my orchid. I wouldn't have any idea which is which as that was the tag it came with when I bought it. Happy nevertheless but would be more proper to put the right tag on it....thanks again.....carl
