I'm going to order some this week. I think I'm going to limit myself to three. Which one is your favorite?

Another question I should have asked is - What do you look for in a Milt flower? I think the shape, form, and coloration just varies so much. Is there some kind of standard out there by which everything is judged good or bad?
I know that's kind of a loaded question, but I guess I'm just curious. So far in my pursuit of orchids I haven't really given all that stuff much weight when it comes to me liking something or not. I just pick what kind of pushes my buttons.
Inquiring mind wants to know.

Like Forrest, I look for fragrance first, then decide if I like the flower's looks.
But based on looks alone, I like #1. The shape is very beautiful and I like the crisp edges rather than the kind of blase round tips on the others.

I like #1 and #2 most, but I raised the same question recently - what is good form for a milt? Flat or concave? Mine was a beauty, but the flower was in no way flat.
Anyone know the judging criteria?

I've heard via the grapevine that flat vs. concave can be an environmental thing. Humidity comes to mind, but I'm not sure. I think flat is preferred.
Help then! How do conditions effect form in Milts????
Julie
Not basic genetic form, but whether or not the flower opens flat or concave. I think someone told me that if the humidity isn't high enough you have a greater chance of the flower opening concave.
Humidity has much to do with Milt flower shape. When looking at a Milt you want nice size sepals and petals. There should not be such a gap between them like in the 4th pic. That flower is absolutely horrible. I think for structure and if I had to Judge, #2 has the best Form.
