    Default I'm very excited!!!

I've been growing this thing for years and years in the same old 6 inch pot, never paying it much mind, just because I thought the foliage was cool. Brought it back from Hawaii after a trip out there almost a decade ago.

Well, after doing some research on Amorphophallus and coming upon this site, I saw a plant growing right next to Ted the Titan that looked like mine. Could it be?

I checked out the tag, googled it, and....

    Yes!

Turns out I've been growing an Aroid all along, and never knew it!

In any case, this is Alocasia Black Velvet--foliage is awesome, I think; soft and furry-looking, just like velvet, even though the leaves are really rigid--almost plastic to the touch.

I feel like such a kid, getting all excited and posting this, but hey...

Those white stars are so luminous! Beauty of a plant. I get that same little kid feeling everytime I see a new root, leaf or spike. Threefold as a bud starts to open! Guess that's why we're all in the same forum!

Ted's is bigger than all of ours...put together!

Dude, that is gorgeous!! I haven't told you yet that all those types of plants (Colocasia, alocasia, xanthosoma) are my other passion. I just go weak in the knees over them. They multiply really well too, so there's always stuff to trade or give away.

    LOL,

I can see it now...a SO holds some hitherto unseen 'chid or tuber up like a bacon strip and says, "come on now Kevy...pick up your socks. Be a good boy..."

Oh wow!! I'm not fan of leaves but those are gorgeous . I also like the quilted look. They are very beautiful, Louis.
