Last year this oncidium had two short spikes which I posted on here. This year there is only one spike which is 52 inches tall. It appeared in September and just grew and grew. I really thought it was trying to compete with Jack's magic bean stock. It has finally started blooming with alot more buds to open. I don't know it's parentage but it definately has Sharry Baby in it. The flowers are larger and the scent is stronger. It smells like chocolate mint. I love the color. Last year it seemed the blooms lasted forever. I hope that holds true this year. It floods the room with it's delicious scent.

Wow...now that's a spike! The flowers are nice and dark....what a beauty!
This orchid sure decided to do things in a big way. Amazing spike! AL
Wow, that is huge, Bill. Nice growing and blooming of this orchid. So dark and beautiful!
Cheers,

Very interesting colouring ; I can't think of anything very close except the very ancient Oncdda Charlesworthii but that tends to have much longer side branches than your plant shown here, and of course a far more primitive open starry flower shape. Unfortunately it doesn't appear in Orchidwiz so that I have not been able to look at the parentage.
Wow, what a well grown plant.
that is really lovely!
I love the color, Bill, but most of all, I like the fact that it has a sweet smell! Betty :-)
That's great - really eye catching. Thanks for sharing.
