    Aja,

Very nice indeed. I especially like the area around the shield in the center. Way to go.

    Call for artist...

Knowing what it takes to provide and maintain a service like Orchid Talk I am proposing we pitch in and raise some money! None of us can do it alone, however I have noticed we have a wealth of talents here, I am looking for others willing to donate a piece of art work to be auctioned here with the funds going to Orchid talk. You do not have to be a professional artist or craft person, but the works shown here have been so well received, lets put them to wok to support our forum! And on top of it as the winning bidder you would get a bit of art from another member, making us an even closer group. This would not have to be strictly art, it could be a book, or even a plant itself, I am totally open just looking to raise some needed funds for a place dear to all of us!

PM me with any ideas you have or donations you are wanting to make, I will collect the info till June 1 2011, then we will launch our fund raiser auction! Winning bidders and the individual making the donation can the arrange shipping, and all funds can go here!

Hope your having a great day!

    No more orchid art?

I used to be pretty good with a program called 'Corel Draw', but when they came out with the version for windows, I didn't like it anymore (that was a looooong time ago before Windows was even made into an operating system) because it was not as versatile as the older program. I suppose I could try an orchid drawing now if the graphics programs are improved. Newer is not always better, but they should have their act together by now.

My artwork is in my arrangements. My customers fall in love with them. The trick is to include plants that provide cover without hogging all the root space in the pot so that the arrangement is everlasting as opposed to one that may survive a few months and then choke out or die off. I've read that some plants make chemicals as a defense mechanism against bugs that like to eat them, and other plants that compete with them. Have you considered this?

Acrylics on wood...Done back in 2012. Figured that it makes more sense to paint it than to actually grow and bloom.

Lovely! When you can paint that well, yes, by all means paint them!
