Beautiful, Randy. This darker form does help to set off the blue of the lip.

I saw this one in spike a few days just before taking a 3day vacation. and upon return this
is what greeted us. This is the darker of my 2 forms... the other one is also in spike....
Beautiful, Randy. This darker form does help to set off the blue of the lip.
The dark part of the bloom looks almost like a dark wood. Very intriguing bloom.
Cheers,
BD
I have a vanda which looks like this but sans blue lip..not sure what it is as I bought it from a rather unscrupulous vendor who misrepresented the colour of the plant to me. Will upload it later, maybe someone can identify it for me.
What a wonderful color combination on these flowers. Your Vanda's are always very fine Randy and how neat it is that you live in a climate that's near perfect for "The Queen Of Orchids". I have maybe seven Vanda types and though I would love more they already take up enough time in their care requirements. AL
Thanks guys I'll update this once my other plant opens...
Vandas are my favorite orchids for a long time and still is, the only problem I have with it is that it gets huge and im running out of space for them. Thats why I have mounted most of my
Vandaceous orchids... I was actually surprised to see this one spike as I have made a mistake of mounting this at the bottom of the driftwood where it wont get enough light as it is also shaded but the other Vandas.... but it seems happy where it is....
My other Vanda Mini Palmer x Vanda (Merilli x insignis) has bloomed and this one is my favorite of the 2.
Very special indeed. Five colors on each flower sure makes this a heck of a beautiful cross. AL
I like the purple lips
thanks glad you liked em.
