Cool Epidendrum Silvestre (Epidendrum coronatum x Epidendrum pseudepi

Love the color of this orchid. Again, it is just starting to bloom and has several more buds to open, but since I had my camera out in the greenhouse, I thought I would photograph it to share.

I agree with you on this one, I really like flowers with green petals and sepals and extravagant coloring on the lip. Great orchid!

How I love bright, contrasting colors. I am learning that orchids can have a fashion sense. That really does mean there's a orchid for every occasion and style. This one would liven up any spring or summer garden party and probably like a little sip of the gin while its at it!

It has gotten some wonderful color from pseudepidendrum. Lovely!

Wow ! I love this one. Bruce how is the growth pattern on this one, is it like the reed stemmed epis or more like small dendrobium with a pseudobulb?

I would say between the two choices --more like a small dendrobium compared to the one reed stemmed orchid we have. It gets tall, but this one hasn't produced any keikis yet and isn't a 'fast' grower either. It did increase in pot size over the last year, (mostly roots) but I believe it was because it was under potted when I got it a couple years ago now.

    Thanks for the kind remarks.

    Cheers,
    BD

Beautiful. Reminds me pseudepidendrum but with less intense colour in the lip.

I agree that it personifies (orchidifies?) spring with its lovely colors. Bruce, I think you should ALWAYS have your camera when you go into the greenhouse - we love your plants!

Interesting how the lip is fused with the column. And as all have said, beautiful colors. Do you not have trouble getting your blossoms wet? You must have some great air movement in that greenhouse.
