Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie in this forum. I have been grown orchid quite a few years in Vietnam and now I'm studying in New Zealand. I have 4 Dendrobium speciosum but just wondering how long will they get flowers?
Thanks for reading my thread and much appreciate with any of your helps.

hi steven, actually i tried twice this morning to answer but my internet was playing up so let me try this again now..
Firstly, welcome to Orchidtalk!
Now this Dend speciosum you have... how mature is it? because speciosums can take quite a few years to mature to flowering... on a good run, maybe 5-6 years... but there are stories of 12 year old speciosums that is still maturing...
the lesson here is "patience grasshoppa"... and in the meantime... ever thought about getting a Dendrobium kingianum... beautiful scent and lovely bright pink colours...
cheers
tim
Hello Tim, thanks for your comment. Honestly, I don't know how old are they? I bought them last year and they grow quite well inside house (outdoor in our place is too cold and get frost/hail). But their cans is between 30-35cm and 3.5cm round (quite fat can). I do fertilise once a week all year round except during winter as I read on the internet and it said we need to reduce water during winter to induce their spikes.
I've 1 big Dendrobium kingianum plant which had over 35-40 spikes last spring...
And this is Dend.Golden Arch:
Forget its name but it had very nice color and fragant flowers..
Cheers,
Long
Welcome Steven. Sorry can't help you as I've no experience with this Australian species but I understand it van grow quite large. However some of our Aussie members, I am sure, will be able to help.

WELCOME to Orchid Talk too!
Welcome to OrchidTalk, Steven.

As bench72 said, it flowers when plant is matured, I have plants around five years old already throwing flower but very short stock.
