Oncidium heaven scent 'redolence' questions

I'm a bit late to join in here, although this post appeared on the top of the list of new posts. However, this kind of Oncidium is known by old fogeys like me, who have been growing since the century before last ( joke - but actually 55 years in my case ) as "hard bulbed oncidiums". They usually rest after flowering, and then don't produce a new growth until they are good and ready. During that period they don't need much of anything - water or feed and resent being given what they don't want ; it leads to rots and spots etc... Just spray it occasionally with water ( you can do that quite often) until you see a new growth, and even then, water sparingly until you see new roots too.
