Thanks so much for the detailed help! The shoot is now almost 5" long, and looks very healthy and happy. In the last two years it has bloomed beautifully in its west facing window with very little direct sun, so I'll keep it there for now. I'm using very weak solution of 19-31-17 by Schultz. Thanks for the flushing out every other time idea. I've had good luck with my orchids, but I have LOTS to learn!
    Happy Spring!

If it were my plant, I would re-pot it in small fir bark, 60%, perlite, 20 %, and small chunks of charcoal, 20%. Soak all of this in water overnight. Next morning, put a small layer of lava rocks into plastic pot then put orchid into the pot. Your pot should be the same size or slightly bigger, but with slits on the side and holes on the bottom. Fill in pot with wet medium around the orchids' roots. ...DO NOT water for seven to ten days.

Click on the option, near the top of almost every page "Orchid Forum", then scroll down to the section on blooming orchids and find the type you are going to post about and click on that link. Then at the top select "Post New Thread" and you are starting a new thread.

If you made it to the "Orchid Forum" page, scroll down a little over half way down, a section called "Orchid Photography" is there and below are the category types.

Did you find the "Orchid Forum" link? It is on the 4th line down (as you count text lines, not the empty space between)

click on this link and it will take you to the Oncidium photo page where you can start a new thread.

Hello there! I'm new to this forum, and have been reading these posts with interest. I've had Phals for about 3 years, then bought an Oncidium recently. The flowers I'd seen 2 weeks before I eventually caved and bought the thing, but we're all but dropped when I did buy it, so I took it home, cut off the spike. It looked over potted so I took it out, shockingly bad(I think) root system, and 2 larger and 1 tiny basically yell to rotten pseudo bulbs. Here's some pics to show what I did, and what it looks like now. Do I understand correctly that it can take up to a year for me to see any new growth?
