Found in Laos, Burma, Viet Nam and Thailand. This is a first bloom for this little minature mounted on a piece of shingle. Blossoms and a new spike arrived at the same time. These are actually non-resupinate, I took the pictures upside down.
The first pic is of all the flowers.
and here is a closeup of a lip
Very cool!
I have been trying to grow this for years - a couple of years ago I bought three plants and put them on a piece of cork bark - had very few leaves, no visible roots, not sure why I haven't thrown them out - and then suddenly this week, bingo - flowers. here's my pic of them - not as many as you have, I think, but maybe a bit brighter ( mine are grown in a darkish corner , which may be important ?)
Interesting, mine are under a High Pressure Sodium light, pretty bright. England and US, these plants know their schedule!
Love this one. Mine is in bloom also. Has a few blooms compared to what it should but more than I expected since I was growing it the wrong way most of the winter. I forgot they like it dry and to be neglected. I grow under flourescents and mine is a dark orange.
Interesting, think I might mark it on my calendar to make sure mine is under flourescent next spring and see what happens.
Lovely both. I just saw that Canh posted his dendrobium unicum also. They are apparently blooming all around the world. Orchids are so cool.
Cheers,
BD
Very nice, Don & Geoff...is this one fragrant? Thanks, Betty :-)
Mine is not fragrant Betty. But it sure holds up well. It is starting its third week open and the flowers are still looking nice. As soon as it drops them I am getting the plant on a Nitrogen feeding schedule as it has a new shoot beginning at the same time.
very pretty !
