    - Just for information, your plant seems to have an erected inflorescence and in that case is more probably phalaenopsis bastianii.

    I still got a strange feeling that this is a Phal. bastianii because of the erect spikes. Also the flower nodes/bracts in mariae is different and more close to each other.

    Jim or Wally? What do you think???

    Okay, let me pretend to be a diagnostician here...

    I have seen Phalaenopsis bastianii with subpendent inflorescences, which is another way of saying that inflorescence attitude is not enough to characterize this species. However, squinting at the labella seen on the first photo, I can tell that the median crest (the one ornamented with hairs) is highly keeled, which is characteristic of P. bastianii. In P. mariae, a low cushion takes the place of the keel; also when inflorescences branch in this species, they tend to arch because of the weight of the flowers.

    So my diagnosis is that the plant before us is P. bastianii.
