Gongora galeata-Fungal, Bacterial, or something else?

Hi all, i have had this G. galeata for about two months, and lately its been getting leaves like this on new growth, and sometimes, whole growths will come off the plant with a mushy, musty smell. I am thinking its Fungal, and it is isolated from the rest of my orchids.

Spot on, its fungal infection because the new growth and the growth tip are staying wet for long periods of time. Avoid wetting the foliage when the plants are producing new growth. I had the same problems with my Stanhopeas a year back, now they seem to have acclimatised well.

thats the problem, i dont water this one that often as its coming into winter, and always run it through the media, and avoid getting it on the leaves to begin with.

I also collect Gongora and I am also having the same problem. I'm just trimming the leaves and spraying the Mancozeb. I feel your pain, there is nothing worse then checking your orchids after a couple of days without seeing them and discovering this. Please let me know if you find a solution.

Jordan the pbulb look very healthy, I agree with Terry just cut the leaf and spraying with fungicide, another solution is you can spray with petroleum base known as "wet oil" it does help my plants.

Also, increase the air circulation around and through the orchid plant.

Unfortunately, easier said than done. Being winter still, it is too cold to put the plant out, but inside there isnt much air flow......perhaps it is a case of adaptation for the plant....

Sorry to say, I don't think your orchids will adapt. I made mention in my most recent post regarding your Coryhopea that my Coryanthes it was suffer. I attribute this to poor air circulation. Most of my Gongora (30 plus) are also suffering from fungal attack due to poor air circulation. I was also forced to make the decision between letting my orchids freeze to death or reduce air circulation by covering my greenhouse in clear plastic. It's a tough decision to make but I figured - An orchid stands more chance of surviving a fungal attack than being frozen to death. In the future (before next winter) I am planning on utilising a fan on a timer.
