    Default Vascostylis Pine Rivers 'Blue'

Pine Rivers is the registered name, Blue is the cultivar. Often mislabelled as Pine River, and the blue or pink or whatever bit as shown as being part of the registered name. What a pernicketty perfectionist I am this morning !
However, if you enter a plant for an award before any of the judging bodies, like the Royal Horticultural Society Orchid Committee, you need to get the name right, and that means dead right. Not that you are penalised if you don't, but I prefer not to look like an amateur ( in the sense of the word where 'amateur' means shambolic, muddled, 2nd class, and 'professional' means smart, accurate, no mistakes...I was brought up to believe that there was only one standard to aim at, whatever the job - even doing something as mundane as the washing up ; or in my dad's words - "If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing properly".
    End of sermon.

All this because I can't think of much to say about the plant , which is not a big one , but I've been coaxing it and wheedling it, and fussing over it for several years, and now it rewards me ; so I wanted to share it with you.

So true, I like everything to be perfect, can't stand imperfection, be it washing, cooking or anything at work, I really am very angry with people who say its OK and accept substandard things, I believe this is the root cause of deteriorating standards in all walks of life. This plant is amazing. The flowers are nice form and color. I will be getting one from Singapore or Thailand hopefully.
