Encyclia Cordigera var purpurea AND Encyclia Auza? (Aromatica x atropurpurea)

I bought these about one year ago without blooms. The blooms are 4CM for the Auza and 5CM for the Cordigera. I cannot find any Google reference to Encyclia Auza so it may be someones hybrid that has not been recognized.

Two very lovely flowers! I am still learning to bloom Encyclia. I like the second so much I tried to look it up. It must be a rare one...very pretty.

Very nice blooms Craig. They are tempting me to try Encyclia for the first time. What are the growing conditions?

From one Encyclia fan to another I say great job! Both are stunning and both are unique, especially the Encyclia Auza. May I ask where you got these? Please Private Message me on this question. Also are these fragrant?, and if so what do they smell like? Thanks so much for posting these photos. AL

Haven't seen the Encyclia Auza orchid bloom before that I can remember. Really lovely.

I never tried smelling them before, but I did just now. The Auza has no smell but the Cordigera has a very faint smell like roses.
The Auza grows in small rocks the biggest is 12mm down to about 5mm.
The Cordigera is in pure Spagnum I believe.
I have not yet repotted either.
Both orchids I bought through the local orchid society that I belong to. The Auza is from a fellow member and I bought as backbulbs with new growth. The Cordigera is from a collection donated to our society to sell. I am pleased with both. Together the price was 12USD.

They are both watered twice a week. They get direct sunlight in my kitchen window. And Fert. Weakly-weekly.

Beautiful blooms. Have not seen the Auza before and it's gorgeous. Yes the cordigera is very fragrant. Don't cut off the whole of old spike - it's quite likely to rebloom from subsidiary branches (BTW got this tip from a post in OTF). My Epi floribundum x Enc cordigera, the pictures of which I posted some time ago, has now put out 3 side branches with, I hope, 3 times the number of flowers!

I'm posting pictures of the new subsidiary branches. I did cut off the part of the old spike just below the bottom bloom. This has encouraged the growth of the new branch spikes.

Thanks for that info, Yew. I am new to encyclias, and would have never thought they could rebloom like that. I have one now with 5 spikes that I adore-- if I comes back with 15 spikes, I might have to ask it to marry me.
